Teen & Parent Sessions
Introduction:
Based on strong demand from the community, we now offer This Is Not A Bullet sessions designed specifically for families — teens attending with a parent or guardian.
These sessions cover the same curriculum as our adult classes: firearms safety fundamentals, terminology, how guns work, legal context, and cultural awareness. The difference is the learning environment, which acknowledges that teenagers bring their own questions, concerns, and perspectives to this topic.

Safety First
If firearms are present in your home (or homes your teen visits), both parent and teen benefit from shared safety knowledge and vocabulary
Media Literacy
Teens encounter gun culture through video games, social media, news, and peers. This class helps them understand what's real, what's mythology, and what's marketing
Non-Alarmist Approach
We teach facts, context, and critical thinking. No fear-mongering, no gun culture posturing, no agenda beyond understanding
Honest Conversation
This class creates space for questions teens might not ask at home, and gives parents language to continue the conversation after class

What We Cover:
Legal basics (California + federal)
How different firearms work mechanically
The psychology of gun culture — fear, identity, marketing
History and cultural context — who gun laws have targeted and why
Hands-on practice with unloaded firearms (supervised, safety-focused)
Buying process and gun store dynamics
Safety fundamentals — the foundation of everything
Choosing to own — or not to own — as valid, informed outcomes
Clear, correct terminology (bullet vs. cartridge, magazine vs. clip, etc.)
This is a literacy class, not a shooting class. No live fire. No firearms or ammunition should be brought to class.
Age & Participation Guidelines:
Minimum Age: Generally 12 and up, at instructor discretion in consultation with parent/guardian.
We trust parents to know their own kids. A mature, engaged 12-year-old is welcome. An immature or disruptive 16-year-old is not a good fit.
Attendance Requirement: Teen must attend WITH parent or guardian for the entire session. No exceptions.
Behavior Expectations: All participants (teens and adults) are expected to:

Listen respectfully
Follow safety instructions immediately
Treat classmates and instructor with courtesy
Ask questions constructively
Stay focused and engaged
Early Dismissal Policy: Repeated disruption or failure to follow safety instructions will result in dismissal from class with no refund. This policy protects the learning environment for everyone and is non-negotiable.
Parents who bristle at this policy are telling us their teen may not be ready. That's okay - come back when they are.
Class Format:
Duration: 4-5 hours (including breaks)
Group Size: Up to 6 total participants (adults + teens combined) to ensure personalized attention and safety.
Session Types:
Mixed sessions (multiple families together)
Dedicated family sessions (your family only — available for private booking)

Cost:
Base Rate: $175 for one teen + one or two parents/guardians
Additional Teens: $75 each (same family)
Group Size: Up to 6 total participants per session
Sliding Scale: Up to 50% off your family's total cost — no explanation required. Pay what you can afford.
Offset Tickets:
Want to help another family attend? Add $10 offset tickets at checkout to subsidize reduced-price spots.
Private Sessions:
